Cobwebs in the Corner

Well, here we are in the month of October. The holiday season is about to be in full swing. Are you ready? In all honesty, I didn’t think about all of the activities I normally do until this past weekend. I guess things were solidified for me on Monday morning. I started a 10 week challenge to close out the year with 5 other inspiring women. I don’t know about you, but I can’t start anything new until I clean up any lingering clutter in my home, office or workout space. So, on Monday, albeit a little late, I  cleaned up my home office. I hadn’t been in my workspace for a few weeks since I was traveling (more details on that next week). As I started to sweep, I noticed a lot of cobwebs! Oh my goodness…had I really been gone that long?? There were a few dried up little critters and a lot of dust too. The webs were in the corners and along the floor molding. All of this made me think: Where else do I have cob webs?

The 10 week challenge encompasses body, mind, and soul transformation. We’re focusing on our physical wellbeing, our eating habits as well as mindset. But here’s what I know. If I don’t remove the cobwebs that are holding me back, I won’t be able to push through to the next level of my success. Here’s my version of cobwebs:

C– Comparison to others

O-Old habits that keep you stuck

B-Bad Energy (or lack of energy)

W-Words that disempower you

E– Egotistical (being self-centered)

B- Blurred boundaries lines

S-Stagnation (not moving forward in your life)

Wow, that’s quite a list! Who wants to have these characteristics in their life? Not me, that’s for sure! I’ve come to realize that transformation involves being open to evolution. Evolution represents change. Staying stagnant means you’re not growing. When you are not growing then….I’ll let you fill in that blank. The more that a person is caught up in comparing themselves to others the less joy one has. Not understanding how certain habits affect you can have you spinning in circles and not moving forward. This can lead to feelings of anxiety, worry and overwhelm. If we don’t protect our space or our environment, then our boundary lines get blurred and we can feel like we’re being taken advantage of.

There isn’t anyone I know who enjoys walking through cobwebs. They are sticky, can get in your hair and generally leave feeling icky. What cobwebs do you need to sweep out of your life? What changes do you need to make to prevent webs from forming? How do you get rid of cobwebs? Although, I literally swept them out of my home office, the 10 day challenge is the perfect tool to rid myself of cobwebs of my mental state.
