If youāve been following me for any length of time you know there are few things in life that I really love to do: eating well and traveling.Ā
Perhaps itās my Canadian Jamaican heritage that sparks the interest. Or perhaps since I grew up in a home where my mom was always cooking something tasty, eating good food is something Iāve always enjoyed.Ā Ā
Over the last couple of months, my husband and I have taken a couple of short road trips, been on a Caribbean cruise and I have explored the Hill Country of Texas for a wine and spirits tour with some girlfriends. Traveling helps me get outside of my comfort zone, exposes me to new people and experiences.Ā
Here are some other ways that Iām inspired by travel:Ā
- Ignites creativity: Immersing myself in unfamiliar surroundings sparks my imagination and encourages me to think outside the box.
- Connecting with diverse people: Traveling allows me to meet individuals from various backgrounds, fostering empathy, understanding, and the appreciation of diversity.
- Learning through firsthand experiences: Engaging with different environments provides me with valuable hands-on knowledge that surpasses what books or classrooms can offer.
- Discovering hidden gems: Venturing off the beaten path leads me to stumble upon hidden treasures, whether it’s a breathtaking landscape, a charming local eatery, or a unique cultural tradition.
- Embracing spontaneity: Traveling teaches me to embrace the unexpected, seize opportunities, and live in the present moment.
- Building resilience and problem-solving skills: Overcoming travel challenges, such as language barriers or navigating unfamiliar transportation systems, strengthens my ability to adapt and find solutions.
- Recharging and finding balance: Exploring new destinations allows me to disconnect from daily routines, rejuvenate my mind and body, and find a sense of balance.
- Creating lifelong memories: Every journey leaves me with unforgettable experiences, stories, and friendships that will stay with me forever.
How does traveling inspire you? It doesnāt have to be far. Maybe jumping on an airplane or spending time in the middle of the ocean gives you anxiety. But, if you could go anywhere in the world where money wasnāt a part of the equation, where would you go? What would you do there? Who would you meet? What would you get to experience? Dreaming or visualizing where you want to go unlocks potential in your life. Unlocking potential leads to possibility. Recognizing possibility leads to choice. Choice leads right to the doorstep of action. Taking action invariably makes you feel fulfilled. That my friends is why I love to travelā¦I feel fulfilled.Ā
