Clear the Chaos

A few years ago, I hosted a workshop called “Finding Courage in the Chaos”. In all honesty, it was the first time I’d ever done such a thing. It was in person & it was a paid event. I was just getting my feet wet & building my confidence muscle. I had 5 people show up. Now you might be wondering how I felt about that. I wasn’t sad or depressed. I didn’t beat myself up or feel defeated. I was elated! I created everything myself, did my own promotions & marketing and set up the room. I did it all. Creating the workshop had less to do with who came & more to do with stepping outside my comfort zone. It was a huge win for me.

Today, as I hit the reset button on my morning routine, I listened to a podcast. The word can up again. Chaos. Hmmm…is someone talking to me? As I moved into my mediation there it was again…Chaos. This is definitely a sign.

How is this all related? As I’ve shared over the last few weeks, my life has been chaotic. I’ve not been fully committed to doing the things that I need to do that bring me peace. I’ve been haphazard, inconsistent & all over the place. Hence the chaos. I was reminded today to take some time to put into practice the things I taught in my workshop years ago. The most important thing is to clear the clutter. How is it possible to have clarity & focus if you’re living in chaos or your mind is cluttered? What boundaries need to be set in order to get back on track? What is the one small step that can be taken to decrease the chaos & open up the channels of peace?

The host of the podcast shared an acronym for CHAOS that has been revolutionary for me: Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome! Whether you have literal chaos in your home, or chaos in your life, you can’t invite anyone to be a part of that. Living in chaos stifles curiosity and creativity. Mental chaos can cause fatigue, depression, anxiety and a whole host of problems. What I’ve learned over the last few weeks is clearing clutter from your life takes courage. Recommitting to my morning practice has been transformative. I’ve rediscovered new possibilities for myself.
