It’s beginning to feel a lot like…

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been on a rampage. I’ve been cleaning out my house like a crazed woman. I almost feel like I did in the last few days before I gave birth to my children, the nesting phase. Trust me there aren’t any babies coming in our house any time soon!

One of the things I’ve taught my clients is when welcoming something new in your life you have to get rid of old things.

Clearing your emotional space, physical space and spiritual space gives clarity. You would never get groceries and put them in the fridge with rotting fruit. You’d get rid of any bad food before putting fresh food in your fridge.

For most people, the holiday season brings joy and cheer. Unfortunately, it can also be a stressful time of year. One of the best ways to alleviate some of that stress is by decluttering your home before the season begins.

Here are five reminders why you should consider decluttering your home before the holiday Season:

 1. More space for guests: If you’re planning on hosting guests during the holidays, decluttering your home can give you more space for them to relax and enjoy themselves. Clearing out unnecessary items can make your home feel more spacious, which can help your guests feel more comfortable.

2. Reduced stress: A cluttered home can lead to stress and anxiety, especially during the holidays when there’s already so much to do. By decluttering your home, you can create a more peaceful and organized environment, which can help reduce your stress levels.

3. Easier decorating: If you enjoy decorating your home for the holidays, decluttering can make the process much easier. With less clutter, you’ll have more space to display your decorations, and you won’t have to spend as much time moving things around to make room.

4. Donations to those in need: This is a great time for giving. Decluttering your home can be a great way to give back. Consider donating any items that are in good condition but no longer serve a purpose in your home to those in need.

5. A fresh start for the new year: Decluttering your home before the holidays can also give you a sense of accomplishment and a fresh start for the new year. Starting the year with a clean and organized home can help you feel more motivated and energized to tackle whatever comes your way.

In my house, we’ve cleaned out our attic, storage closet, linen closet & guest room. We’ve removed throw rugs, old shoes, clothes & have even found some old toys. Recruiting the help of everyone in my family has made this job easier. Walking into our home feels peaceful, calm & clean.
